Dr. Zachary Yamba Scholarship

This scholarship program was established by GAMA to honor Dr. Zackary Yamba, a Professor, an Educator who served as the President of Essex County College for 3 decades, a man with great passion for humanity, a Mentor, a Great Teacher, a Disciplinarian and a man with a warm heart and a great philanthropic spirit.

This scholarship program aims to support high school graduates and students who have completed their freshman year. The scholarship is open for both 2-year (Community College) and 4-year (University) institutions. You must be a New Jersey resident to apply.

To be considered for this scholarship, you must intend to pursue an Associate or Bachelor degree in College and provide at least 2 letters of recommendation from your academic referees/counselors The application is free of charge.

Application period starts September 1st 2022 and ends by October 31st 2022.

We encourage recipients of this scholarship award to pay it forward by helping to promote education among the masses.

Your essay should be between 300-500 words. You should address in your essay the following: your college goals and choice of major, what you intend to do with your education, and why a scholarship is important to you. Include any academic and non-academic accomplishments, personal characteristics, or experiences that make you uniquely worthy of scholarship consideration.

Please note if you are selected for this scholarship, you will be required to attend the award ceremony in December. If you are unable, you must find a representative to attend. Your monetary award will be disbursed during the award ceremony.
